NZ waterfall

The Milford Sound road on New Zealand’s South Island provides many opportunities to access some incredible locations and scenes by following established tracks.

One is this fine area of rushing water and rocks on the track to Lake Marion.

Despite the lack of rainfall in recent weeks there was still a lot of water roaring over the rocks at a volume that made almost shouting needed to hold a conversation.

By purchasing and printing this image you can provide scene of movement and energy to many parts of your home or office.

Seed heads at sunset

Wild grasses provide excellent low angle scenes and every Autumn the wild bushland provides scope to get out, get low and enjoy.

Here the low sun wonderfully back lights these grass heads and the line of eucalyptus trees provides a nice contrasting backdrop.

If you have or spot in your home in need some light, this photograph could be the perfect contender!

Path in the grass

Near the summit of the Great Dividing range, a place near to my home I found this path through a sea of late winter grass heads. While attractive in colour, it took on a mystical feel in black and white.

Dalrymple Creek

Around 24 million years ago a giant shield volcano dominated much of South-east Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years most of it has eroded away, though some of the remaining  slopes can be found on the western flank. Here a mixture of rainforest and Sclerophyll forests can be found depending on altitude and topography. Several national parks including World Heritage areas help protect this landscape.

Access is limited to established walking trails, though at times these are little more than a thread of a beaten path through the vegetation. The region is drained by several creeks, including Dalrymple Creek, which is timelessly cutting its way through the ancient basalt at the start of its journey that will end with its waters emptying into the Southern Ocean, 2,000 km away.

This bend in the creek is highlighted by shafts of Autumn sunlight.
